Journaling

Journals

Journals are the cornerstone of TradeMemoir, allowing you to effectively organize your trades. They also provide data for generating dashboards and reports.

Journals Overview

The journals overview page can be reached by clicking the "Journals" section in the side menu.

Journals Overview

Within this overview all journals can be found. New journals can be created. Additionally, any existing journal can be viewed to see its recorded trades.

Create a Journal

A new journal can be created by pressing the "Create new journal" button on the journals overview page.

A new window opens up where the following information can be entered:

FieldsExplanation
Journal nameThis name will be used to identify the specific journal. This name will appear in dashboards and reporting.
Base CurrencyThe base currency of the given currency. Usually corresponds with the currency of your broker.
Initial BalanceThe initial balance in your base currency. This is usually your broker account value.

Each journal has a base currency. Base currencies are used to track the value of your account. This is the currency you use with a broker to buy assets.

When trading with multiple base currencies, you will need to create a separate journal for each one. For example, if you maintain funds in both EUR and USDT and use both to buy assets, you will need a journal for each currency. If you use multiple brokers, you will also need a separate journal for each broker.

Journal limits

The number of journals you can create depends on your subscription type. The BASIC subscription allows one journal, while the PRO subscription allows up to five journals.

Adjust a Journal

If you made a mistake in the name, or in the base currency, you can adjust this. On the journals overview page, you can press the "Adjust" button next to your journal. This will open a new window where these fields can be changed.

Additionally, the current balance can be adjusted. This is particularly useful to reconcile your account balance. This will be reflected in the dashboards and reporting.

Remove a Journal

On the journals overview page, a specific journal can be removed by pressing the "Remove" button next to the journal.

This action will as well remove the recorded trades on this journal. As well the statistics of this journal will be removed from the dashboards and reporting.
